Turquoise is such a fun stone to me. Each piece is totally unique and I love that large size stones are readily available in jewelry. You can make a bold statement at an affordable price and stand out with something no one else in the room owns. For all these reasons and more, I was Trinity de Cartier Earringsdelighted to interview Anne Bever, the designer of I wanted to know more about Anne as a person and a designer, and I wanted to know more about turquoise! Check out my full interview with her below. Anne at Turquoise Mine Q. When did you know you wanted to design jewelry? A. I believe every person has it in them to design jewelry and each person who ever places an item of jewelry on their body in some way is a designer. I think jewelry design starts with knowing what stones, textures, weight and balance is pleasing to your own eye and then it’s a matter of grouping and putting it all together. I think I knew I wanted to start designing jewelry for a living when I saw some old glass beads at a yard sale and the color just struck me as soft and feminine and a great color to start a necklace for my mainstay piece for the spring season. I found a vintage daisy enamel brooch online (this was very new to me at the time) and I mixed some turquoise beads, the coral color glass beads and an antique floral broach. I made a necklace I just loved. Very quickly I started to see necklaces with a similar concept. I know I did not come up with the style, but it did solidify for me that I had an eye and I should begin to explore this talent. Q. How did you get started in jewelry design?  A. I got started in jewelry design as a business because my husband’s stone business was changing as the economy was changing, and that is when we began collaborating on designs. I will never forget laying in the hospital bed pregnant with my youngest, our daughter, and Steve was Fake Amulette de Cartier Ring busy sketching and putting to paper designs we were working on, quick break to deliver MaryJane and then back to the sketch book. I still wear the ring we were working on that day. Q. Why did you choose turquoise jewelry as your choice of focus? What makes turquoise so special to you? A. Turquoise jewelry became our focus because we are in the turquoise stone business and it made sense to use turquoise in the jewelry we were designing because of our connections to the mine. However, that doesn’t answer why I choose turquoise. I have always loved turquoise more than any other stone. My first piece of jewelry was a three stone turquoise baby bracelet my Dad bought for me before I was born. One for me and one for a sister that never came, five brothers, but no sister, so I have the other bracelet for our only daughter. I think turquoise is the most special to me because of all the stones in the world, I feel turquoise has a very spiritual connection. There is cheap Hermes kelly dog bracelet something miraculous in the colors that come from the ground and vary so much. I feel that turquoise is a stone that mimics the sky and the ground all at the same time. The blue of the sky and the green of the land and it has always been with mankind. I like working with things that are layered in multiple areas and I believe turquoise is that stone. Anne at Turquoise Mine Turquoise Rough Q. Who has had the most influence on your work? A. As an Arizona native I will tell you that my strongest influence will always be the Native American culture. It is the layer of my life that weaves through every area of design, from my house, to my clothes, to ultimately my jewelry and the jewelry I design. However, over the years I have begun to see turquoise is every facet of life and it has become the focal point of almost everything I wear. I love it versatility. For example, at a time I might of selected a strand of pearls, now, you will find me wearing a stunning, strand of perfect, blue turquoise beads.  Q. Where do you draw inspiration from when designing your pieces? A. Inspiration never comes from a single source. I find inspiration in music, a face of friend, a beautiful dress, a perfectly set table or meal, a book or a memory. Q. What are some of your favorite pieces you’ve created for and why?  A. The question cheap Hermes Logo Earrings of a favorite piece is always asked and I smile to myself always because it is impossible to pick a favorite of something that you love. I have “favorites” because it always depends on my mood. I will always love the below. Blue Kingman Turquoise Flower Ring It is my favorite piece, because it is a design my husband did and surprised me. He did not show me the sketch or the idea. As we were sitting in a meeting with he brought it out and every woman sitting there did a small gasp, because it was so pretty. The very first ring he ever gave me he bought at a Trading Post gift shop near Little Big Horn. He was on a senior trip with my brother and we had one day and night where my family met up with them. As a lovesick teen, I did not need a present, but he took me over to a tray of rings and said pick your favorite. I selected an inlay turquoise ring, in the shape of two flowers. Naturally, I selected the most expensive one in the whole tray and it cost him all his spending money. It was worth it. Years later, my jewelry was stolen and my beloved turquoise flower ring was gone. I believe he designed this ring to replace that ring and each time I look at I think of that day so long ago. Jewelry marks those moments in time and the feeling we had in that moment can come flooding back by simply wearing it again. I feel so fortunate that the boy who bought that ring so many years ago, is the man I share a jewelry company with today. We have the rare opportunity to pour those feelings of love into the pieces we create for people. I often reflect on that as we sit working on a design, or selecting stone, or ultimately finishing off a strand. When, we were finishing the I would finish it and imagine who would end up wearing it, hoping that it would bring them the same smile I was feeling. Colors Of Kingman Turquoise Graduated Nugget Necklace I also really love below because to me it represents a new way to wear turquoise. I know the look I was always brought up in, but a design or elegance that is normally seen in jewelry reserved for precious stones was a change in my tastes and with this bracelet we highlight the elegance of turquoise. It is also a bracelet that we used Sleeping Beauty Turquoise for the stone and knowing how difficult it will be to find these stones again, makes this one of my most cherished pieces. Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Silver Bangle Q. How often do you travel? Where in the world has your career taken you? What is your favorite place you travel for work? A. We travel for work all the time and it is always hard for me because I have the hardest time leaving my four babies at home, and no I did not have quadruplets, but even replica Cartier jewelry vthough they are 11, 9, 7, and 5 every mother knows they are always your babies. My husband is still “baby Stevie” to his mother and he is almost 40! I think traveling to China are probably the most different and profound trips, having the opportunity to partake in a culture and landscape so different than anything I had ever experienced was probably the most profound. However, I would have to say that my favorite place to travel is the Kingman Mine. I am exhilarated every single trip to Kingman. I love having the opportunity to travel in my home state and see the desert landscape throughout the whole drive to arrive at the very mountain we get our turquoise from. There is a blueness to the Kingman sky, and it is always windy. It makes me feel a closeness to God I only find in nature and gives me a sense of earthly responsibility to the stone and design. When we arrive in Kingman we are welcomed by a family who are gracious and giving and share their gift of turquoise, which gives us the tremendous opportunity to create some of the most beautiful jewelry in the world. I have never driven away from the mine, that I didn’t feel a sense of gratitude for the very gift of turquoise, the gift of friendship and the God given gift of this earth. Anne with Turquoise Rough  Q. What is the one piece of jewelry you never leave home without and why? A. I have never left home without a piece of turquoise and by piece I mean most of my turquoise collection. Most recently, on a trip I brought my and wore it replica Cartier jewelry everyday of my trip.   It was worn with a simple chambray shirt, a black dress, a printed dress and a swimsuit. How is that for versatility! Sleeping Beauty Turquoise Chip Torsade Necklace Q. What is one fun fact most people don’t know about you? A. A fun fact… Well, most people that see me on air don’t know that I probably love food more than jewelry. Donuts will win over turquoise almost every time. I also love clothes and I am extreme bargain hunter for clothes. I will always choose to spend my money on jewelry over clothing and it becomes a game to find the perfect ten-dollar dress and then pairing it with a thousand dollar necklace. A dress will never look like ten-dollars when you are wearing the best turquoise in the world.  Q. Why should everyone own at least one piece of Teyha Oyama Turquoise jewelry?  A. This is the easiest of all the questions. Everyone should own a piece of Teyha Oyama Turquoise, because our focus is always the turquoise and you won’t find a better quality of turquoise anywhere else. We believe in bringing turquoise to everyone and we keep that in mind in every piece we design. Turquoise is one of the oldest stones in the world and I truly believe every person who owns jewelry should have at least one beautiful strand, a striking ring, a stunner bracelet and a perfect earring. When that is complete, you can continue to add to your collection, piece by piece. I always think of my brother, who has purchased several pieces for his wife and one day in the middle of a production, he visited our office and looking down at our pieces, he is 6’4”, he said, “I thought I had already bought Noelle all the turquoise she would ever need, and seeing all these beautiful pieces, I know I will never be finished.” Good for Teyha Oyama Turquoise and , but the real winner is actually Noelle. Turquoise is truly a “precious gift.” After getting to know her more, I hope you agree not only is Anne a fabulous jewelry designer but also a wonderful woman! Spend some time exploring her beautiful jewelry and I’m certain you’ll start making memories of your own.
