Joe Flacco is expected to miss time with a disk issue in his spine as the Ravens open up training camp on Thursday.
The seriousness of the injury isn't clear. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the harm could take 3-6 weeks to cure, while ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the group doesn't think it's serious, and that he could miss only 1 week. Schefter added that Flacco hurt his back lifting.
Flacco played in all 16 of the Ravens' games in 2016, leading them to an 8-8 record. He threw for over 4,300 yards, 20 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions on the season. Flacco's missed just six games in his career. A knee injury during the 2015 season ended his perfect series of 137 career begins.
The Ravens jerseys replica have two other quarterbacks on the roster in Ryan Mallett and Dustin Vaughan. The Ravens start camp on Thursday, where head coach John Harbaugh will talk to the media following practice.
The news comes only a day after the team discovered running back Kenneth Dixon would miss the season following knee surgery. Earlier this offseason, the team lost tight end Dennis Pitta (that was later released) into a hip injury and Tavon Young into a knee injury for the season.
