Under glorious evening skies, nearly 200 guests filled the courtyard and garden of Becca Cason Thrash and John Thrash's Memorial-area home Wednesday to celebrate the opening of the new Van Cleef & Arpels boutique at River Oaks District.
Guests mingled, nibbled on lite bites and sipped champagne while meandering throughout the lush green landscape. Models gracefully strolled through the crowd wearing Van Cleef & Arpels jewels and gowns designed by Gaspard Yurkievich, who creates looks specifically for the luxury jewelry brand.
While the Van Cleef & Arpels boutique at River Oaks District itself opened quietly, the night was a coming out party of sorts.
"I have a long-standing history with the brand ... tonight is the real celebration of the opening," said Becca Cason Thrash, who greeted guests wearing a stunning gold Naeem Khan gown and Van Cleef jewels.
The menu included White and Green Asparagus with Wild Mushrooms and Hollandaise, Grilled Sea Bass with Warm Lemon Vinaigrette and Lemon Meringue Tarte.
Alain Bernard, Van Cleef & Arpels' CEO of the Americas, expressed gratitude for Houston's support. Tickets, $600 per person, sold out nearly a week ago.
"Life is about exceptional people, being with exceptional people and exceptional moments. This is an important moment for the House (Van Cleef & Arpels)," he said.
For the evening finale, Thrash enthusiastically auctioned off a luxury trip for two to Paris that included business-class airfare, three nights in a five-star hotel and a visit to the new Foundation Louis Vuitton, which opened last year and was designed by Frank Gehry.http://www.royaljewelries.com/van-cleef-arpels.html
